After graduating from college, I attended graduate school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying English literature. As part of that program, I worked as an instructor for several years designing and teaching 20 classes in writing and literature.
I then became a freelance writer and editor writing for magazines and corporate clients. Through this work, I also became the senior course designer at ChurchNext, a small Episcopal Church-based online education company. At ChurchNext, I edited and designed over 200 courses for individual and group learning as well designing and running live online classes, curricula, and two online conferences.
In 2023 became managing editor for two Raleigh-area lifestyle magazines, having written for the publisher for several years. I then decided to pursue instructional design as a full-time job and got a professional certification in Learning Design and Technology from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
As a result of what I learned in my professional certification course, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, which is where I am today.
